June 30, 2026 - Schneider Electric announced it has been selected by Southern California Edison (SCE) to deploy SF₆-free substation technology. The project utilizes Schneider Electric's GMAirSeT™ switchgear, which replaces traditional SF₆ gas with clean air and vacuum technology to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining reliable electric service.

Its compact, modular design allows SCE to modernize substations without full rebuilds, completing upgrades more quickly. The deployment enables SCE to bring new capacity online faster, manage project costs, and reduce emissions simultaneously - representing an important step in the power industry's transition toward low-carbon operations.
